admin | July 31st, 2008 | No Comments »MBCBL Coordinators Darryl R. Toews and Meredith Daun visited the National Committee for Demining and Rehabilitation (NCDR) in Amman, Jordan, to learn more about mine action in that country.
Mr. Adnan Telfah, head of the NCDR Mine Risk Education (MRE)/Victim Assistance (VA) Department, provided Darryl and Meredith with an excellent overview of NCDR’s work to educate young people in mined areas about the dangers of landmines.
They also learned about demining activities being conducted by Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) along Jordan’s borders with Syria and Israel. Darryl and Meredith were taken to the border with Syria to see the mined areas by NCDR MRE Field Coordinator Mr. Saleh Qbelat.
The MBCBL will be adding an additional fundraising component to support the victim assistance work done by the NCDR.
