Lend Your Leg

"Lend Your Leg is an initiative of Mines Action Canada and the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. On April 4th, people around the world will be rolling up their pant leg to stand with survivors and say no more landmines. We are asking for photos and video of people lending their leg to show landmine survivors that they are not alone and tell governments that supporting survivors is important to us all." - Mines Action Canada

One Love Project Rwanda

A photo essay by Shawna Nelles

"One Love is a project with orthopedic workshops in Rwanda and Burundi producing free quality prosthetics for amputees in need. Gatera Rudasingwa, from Rwanda, and his Japanese wife Mami Yoshida started the project in 1995 after years of civil war left a staggering number of people without limbs due to landmines and genocide. A restaurant, gift shop and guest house on the premises were developed to help finance the workshop. Gatera, along with most of the people employed at One Love, are also disabled."
