The 100 to 1000 Fundraiser

We need your help! Support the MBCBL?s “100 to 1000”™ fundraising campaign!
Donate $10 to the MBCBL to help our efforts to alert the public to Canada?s
embarrassing draft legislation to ban cluster munitions.
Canada?s draft legislation to implement the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) is
simply bad. It contains loopholes that will allow Canadian military personnel to continue
to be involved with the use of cluster munitions when involved in joint military operations
with countries that have not joined the CCM.
For us, this is a violation of both the purpose and spirit of the CCM. Canada can and
should do better. To continue to allow Canada?s military to be involved with the use of
cluster munitions is shameful when the evidence shows a weapon
The MBCBL will be stepping up its advocacy work to engage Manitobans on the cluster
munition issue. We are inviting you to do the following:
Be a supporter of our “100 to 1000”™ fundraising campaign by donating $10 to
the MBCBL to help us with our cluster munition advocacy campaign.
Spread the word about the “100 to 1000”™ fundraising campaign on Facebook
and Twitter.
Call, write or email your MP and all of Manitoba?s Senators to demand that
Canada?s legislation to ban cluster munitions do just that. Ban them. No
exceptions.
If you would like to support the “100 to 1000” campaign, send a cheque, made out to
“MBCBL”, to 343-8th Street, Morden, MB, R6M 1N1. We commit to using your donation
as part of our advocacy work on cluster munitions. Any extra funds will be forwarded to
the One Love Project?s orthopedic workshops in Rwanda and Burundi.

Donate $10 to the MBCBL and help us alert Manitobans to the Canadian government’s embarrassing draft legislation to ban cluster munitions. Be one of the 100 people to help us reach our goal of $1,000.

Canada’s draft legislation to implement the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) is just plain bad. It contains loopholes that will allow Canadian military personnel to be involved with the use of cluster munitions when involved in joint military operations with countries that have not joined the CCM.

This is a violation of both the intent and spirit of the CCM. Canada should and must do better. To continue to allow Canada’s military to be involved with the use of cluster munitions is shameful. Cluster munitions are indiscriminate weapons that have long-lasting and devastating effects on civilian populations and their communities. Children are frequently victims of this terrible weapon.
