Action Alert – Fix Bill S-10 to Ban Cluster Munitions
admin | Wednesday, October 31st, 2012 | No Comments »Canada’s legislation to ban cluster munitions is currently before the Senate. Section 11 of Bill S-10 allows Canada’s military personnel to continue to be involved directly and/or indirectly in the use of cluster munitions when involved in joint military operations with states that have not banned that weapon.
Canada must do better. A ban on the use of cluster munitions must be absolute and without exceptions. Contact Manitoba’s Senators and demand that the loophole sections of Bill S-10 be removed.
The first Senator to contact is Janis G. Johnson. She is on the Senate Foreign Affairs committee that is currently examining Bill S-10 before it heads to the full Senate. She can be contacted at 1-800-267-7362 or by email at:
